Birthday Photo Shoot!

I have been planning to do a birthday photo-shoot with Mar for a few weeks/months, now -- on and off. I finally did it, but it didn't turn out exactly as planned! She kept crawling away and wanting to scurry off. It was so much fun and I'm so thankful that I had the help of Sarah from Semi Crunchy Sarah and her son! Here are some of the unofficial shots we got! (Playing around, testing, and trying to get Mar to sit still...)

I had to bribe her with the sign for "milk." Silly girl.

Symone Photo Shoot

Had a very nice day with a friend, Symone. We had such a fun time being silly and creative. Check out the photos on Flickr. She was so funny and willing to do crazy things that came to mind - she even contributed to the creative-process. She threw out ideas and we went along with it. She was a "BALLER-ina" :)

Enjoy! TTFN.

Mini Shoot with a Fellow Photographer

My friend Nicole (Paper Lantern Stories) posed for my Etsy shop. These are just desaturated with a new tinted black and white preset I worked up in Lightroom... Here's my Etsy shop of my crochet creations so far!

Mini Practice Session With My Sister

I did a quick little practice session on my sister on Christmas, just for kicks. Here are some of them:

You Must be Slim to Athletic Build to Pull This Off

While looking at posing guides on Digital Photography School, I came across this gem:

"19. Note that full height settings are very demanding and work well only with slim to athletic body types. Posing guidelines are simple: The body should be arched in an S shape, hands should be relaxed, while the weight finds support on just one leg."

Aside from forcing poses feeling unnatural, there is just so much wrong in this "tip". "...work well only with slim to athletic body types." No. Just, no. In one blog on Tumblr that I follow Curve Appeal, there is a plethora of beautiful full-figured women who are not "slim to athletic" in shape. You don't have to be "STA" to be beautiful. Body image is a huge thing to me. I'm very self-conscious and having a "photography" website essentially shoot down women who are full-figured is just wrong. We should be empowering women to feel beautiful, not telling them that they can't do a certain pose because they're not STA.

I am not anywhere near STA, and I am working on being comfortable in my skin enough to have full body shots and "tips" like these are destroying the possibility of some people to come out and attempt these shots, for fear that someone will say "She's just too big to do that pose".

(All photos borrowed with permission from Curve Appeal on Tumblr) (If any of these belong to you and you do not want them up here, feel free to send me a message and I will remove it.)

Looks to me like there's some absolutely beautiful women in these photos. Look! Bellies! None of them are STA, and they're all beautiful, confident, happy, and just inspiring!

Styled Bridal Shoot, Paper Lantern Stories, The Mall, Lip Piercing

Today I helped a friend with a styled bridal shoot and I met my "husband" today. It's really strange feeling married and intimate with a man I just met! It's also very fun! I most definitely would do it again!

Waiting for my "husband" and photographer to show up! Ignore the chapped lips; bad habit of biting them.
Our wonderful photographer! This shoot was for portfolio work, but he and I worked out well, I think! He was very handsome! Sorry if this is blurry, I'm still figuring out the new lens...
